Jordan Young is responsible for health & safety, training, and workforce development at Orange County Waste & Recycling. He leads initiatives that support safe operations across landfill, composting and resource recovery facilities, including the implementation of Cal/OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) safety management system that has been STAR certified.

With over a decade of experience spanning local government, solid waste, aerospace, medical device manufacturing, and metal finishing industries, Jordan brings a data-driven approach to occupational health and safety. His expertise includes industrial hygiene, exposure assessment, workers’ compensation, competency-based training for adult learners, and the development of standardized safety and environmental and quality management systems.
With an academic foundation in environmental science, he began his career managing a biological field station in Costa Rica, supporting international research and study abroad programs. Jordan is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Industrial Hygiene and holds certifications as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Qualified Industrial Stormwater Professional (QISP), and Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO). He is an active speaker on safety topics and writes on professional development for early-career EHS professionals.
